Vitrocoat Delivers because it is internationally tested and certified

Vitrocoat certified painted glass undergoes rigorous testing to ensure exceptional performance and durability. Independent, globally recognized testing institutes, TÜV Rheinland in Amsterdam and Element, subject Vitrocoat to a battery of tests following ASTM International standards. These tests measure the coating’s adhesion, resistance to water immersion, salt spray, scratches, and ultraviolet (UV) light.

Unlike our competitors, Vitrocoat has consistently outperformed in all tests, showcasing its exceptional qualities for various applications. Due to its outstanding performance, Vitrocoat has been the choice of paint in several major projects in the UAE and Internationally. Below is a comprehensive overview of each test and its corresponding results.

Vitrocoat Certified Glass Paint Performance Summary

UV Resistance (ASTM D 4587, 313 Method): Passed (1000 hours)

For UV exposure the commonly referenced ASTM test is for 300 hours exposure in a high intensity UV testing riq. However for Vitrocoat, given the extreme levels of UV exposure in the desert environment of the UAE we decided to conduct a 1000 hrs UV exposure test. The results were, NO VISIBLE CHANGE, NO CHALKING, PEELING OR CRACKING

Coating Adhesion (ASTM D 3359 or DIN 53151): Passed

This test measures how well Vitrocoat adheres to the glass substrate. A higher number indicates stronger adhesion, and Vitrocoat passes this test with flying colors.

Water Immersion (ASTM D 870): Passed (40 days at 65°C)

This test evaluates Vitrocoat’s ability to withstand continuous exposure to hot water. The test is conducted for an extended period at an elevated temperature, and Vitrocoat passes effortlessly.

Salt Spray (ASTM C 1503): Passed (600 hours)

Salt spray tests measure a coating’s resistance to corrosion. Vitrocoat demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance by passing this test with a significant exposure time.

Hardness (ASTM D 3363): Passed (1H)

This test determines the coating’s resistance to indentation. Vitrocoat achieves a hardness rating of 1H, indicating its ability to withstand scratches and abrasions.

Scratch Resistance (ASTM D 2197): Passed (1.9 kg)

Scratch resistance tests measure the force required to scratch the coating’s surface. Vitrocoat exhibits exceptional scratch resistance, withstanding a force of 1.9 kg.

DOW Corning Silicone Test – 100% Passed

DOW Corning is arguably the world’s leading silicone manufacturer. Vitrocoat has been tested in DOW Cornings own laboratory for both adhesion and compatibility with several of their most commonly used construction silicones. The results were exceptional. During the pull-off adhesion test (the test is done to destruction) the Vitrocoat paint on the glass remained a 100 percent intact while it was the silicone that ultimately ripped apart.

Additional Testing

In addition to the aforementioned tests, Vitrocoat undergoes regular pull-off tests following ASTM 4541. These tests precisely measure the bond strength between the glass and the Vitrocoat paint, consistently demonstrating exceptional results. The rigorous testing and consistent performance of Vitrocoat ensure that it delivers exceptional durability and reliability for a wide range of glass applications. Whether you’re a glass manufacturer, installer, or designer, Vitrocoat’s proven track record of excellence can give you confidence in your projects.
